Woo hoo!!!

I haven't been to a concert in FO-EVAH. As a matter of fact, I think the last one I went to was either Rascall Flatts or Big & Rich a couple of years ago.

So I am so, so, so excited that Carl and I are going to one this Thursday. We are going to see Theory of a Deadman... a rock group that is... well... AWESOME.

Here is one of their videos...

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about seeing these guys. Carl heard them on the radio and bought a CD... I can't get enough of it.

My hubby doesn't ask for much. When I told him this group was going to be at a local venue he got this little look on his face and said "Can we go?" I couldn't deny him. At. All.

I just hope Dad can babysit. :)

Crazy Ivan

Last night was the first time I've watched Heroes in a couple of weeks and I LOVED it. That was the show I fell in love with a couple of years ago. I may actually try to watch it again next week.

Especially if Sylar is in it again. OMG... those scenes with Elle were KILLING me.

Crazy for gas

To continue with the discussion from yesterday...

I heard on the news that a woman ran her car into a Krispy Kreme truck this morning because she thought he was trying to break in the gas line.

He was there to make a delivery.

There are FIGHTS breaking out over this stuff. They are doing special reports on the radio about where gas is available without lines! Folks have lost their ever-lovin' minds.

I love this guy's commentary on it... and this report is a snapshot of what is happening...

If the terrorists want to do something to bring this country to its knees we are showing them the best possible way. Don't ya think?

Conversations in my house

"Mom," Bug says, "I have a new boyfriend at school. I'm going to tell you some things about him and then QUIZ you to see if you were listening.*"

Me: Ok, honey. Go for it.

Bug: (using her fingers to count off)
  • His name is SB. (last name sounds like the name of a vaccuum cleaner -- so that is what Carl and I call him now-- S. Vaccuum Cleaner)
  • He has browndish-blondish hair
  • He has bro--- no WAIT -- HAZEL eyes
  • His favorite color is... blue
  • His favorite sport is... baseball
  • His favorite food is... chicken
  • He is - like - mid-tempo

Me: Wait. Mid-tempo? What does that mean?

Bug: You know... it takes a lot to get him mad. He is MID-TEMPO

Me: Do you mean Mild Tempered?

Bug:(rolling her eyes) Whateverrrrrr!! You know what I mean...

Me: (laughing to hard to say anything else)

* I passed after I stopped laughing.

Conversations in my house

While Carl was home for dinner last night, J-man sat at the table to talk to him while he ate. I was attempting to navigate the mess that is in our living room floor (it's not that bad I promise) and I told J-man that he needed to pick up his skis.

He asked what that meant and Carl said, "You've got big feet, dude! Your shoes look like skis"...

and the conversation then went downhill...

C: You know what they say about big feet?

J: No what?

C: Means you have a big... you know.

J: Cool!!!

Me: That isn't true!!! That is an old wives tale. I have been told a theory that seems to work better. You look at a guy's fingers! If they are long and skinny then.... you know. If they are short and stubby, then... mmm hmmm.

J: Well, I've got long fingers...

C: Yeah, man! Your fingers are longer than mine!

J: (begins to chant) I've got a bigger penis!! I've got a bigger penis!!

OMG!!!! I have not laughed that hard in FOREVER.

Yes... we have these kinds of conversations all. the. time.

Boys...

Totally random

I love this contraption...

It is a toothpaste tube "squeezer". You don't have to roll up the toothpaste tube any more! You can also get most of the toothpaste out of the tube before throwing it away.

Mom gave me mine a few months ago and I love it! We misplaced it once and you should have seen me tearing UP the bathroom looking for it. I don't know what I ever did with out it.

You can get yours at Wal-Mart... or Amazon where I found the picture.

Totally random, I know. Sorry.

Results of high gas prices

I've been seeing a lot more folks on the train these days. Maybe it is because of the price of gas? Maybe people are just worried about global warming. Hell, I don't know.

I DO know the trains are full. And that means lots of new faces and stories.

Today I saw two women sitting together. They both had on uniforms from the land of McDeals. One looked strange and I couldn't quite place my finger on why. Then it hit me. She had shaved her eyebrows and penciled in some new ones. Only the drawn on version was above where her normal eyebrow would be; it followed the curve of the muscle. She had tiny eyes to begin with and drawing her eyebrows so high gave her A LOT of real estate to deal with. And deal with it she did... with PINK eyeshadow.

So strange.

And her seat mate? She had her hair pulled back into a pony tail that sat right at the top of her head, but toward the back. (Ladies you will know what I mean). And a small tiara perched in front of her ponytail holder.

Princess.

I love riding the train.

Watch any movies on vacation?

I have been catching up on my movies the past few weeks. Travel seems to be a good way to watch the flicks you've been missing. During my flights to and from Washington and the cruise I've watched all of these:
  • Sweeney Todd - good gracious this movie was gruesome. But I loved it never the less.
  • 27 Dresses - I wanted to hate this movie. I really did. But in the end I wound up liking it. Guess I'm still a chick.
  • Bourne Ultimatum - very little dialog... lots of action and LOTS of Matt Damon. Makes me a happy girl.
  • National Treasure: Book of Secrets - pretty good flick. I love this type of movie; all action adventure and funny banter. Makes me ready to go see the next Indiana Jones movie... I can't WAIT for that one.
  • Atonement - I started reading this book a couple of years ago and had a hard time getting into it. The movie was kind of the same. Very hard to follow because it jumped back and forth. The cinematography though was amazing... beautifully shot. In the end though I liked it. Would I recommend it? No. But it is still a good movie.
  • No Country for Old Men - didn't get to watch this one through. We saw bits and pieces running in and out of our cabin. What I DID see looked creepy, evil, and interesting. Carl and I are going to rent this one...
  • The Bucket List - Jack Nicholson and Morgran Freeman. Together. In one film. Need I say more?
  • Grease - yes... I watched this while waiting to dock in Ketchican. I still adore that movie.
  • The Devil Wears Prada - Very cute movie. I didn't think I would like it, but Meryl Streep is just so flippen awesome.
  • The Great Debaters - awesome, awesome, awesome. I love Denzel Washington and would enjoy watching him read the phone book. This was a powerful and amazing movie. I was sitting too far away from the screen to see the "what happened to" part at the end... I'm going to be doing some research to find out about those folks. If you haven't seen this movie -- I highly recommend it.

I think that is everything... there were a couple more that we saw snippets of, but they weren't worth mentioning.

Yes. We did leave our cabin and the ship. We just had a lot of travel time, too!

My carpet?

I was waiting on the train platform this afternoon. Across the platform was a guy "rapping" his own version of something I couldn't understand. Trust me when I say this boy is NO Fiddy Cent... okay?

Anyhoo...

Next to me is a young kid talking on his cell phone. At one point he hangs up and we make eye contact. I roll my eyes a little bit and smile at him -- directing it to the dude across the way.

He looks me up and down and says, "Yo, baby! How you dooin? You need your carpet cleaned?"

I shook my head no and tried not to laugh.

Now...

Should I be insulted or was he really worried about the carpets in my house?

Renaissance Festival

Last weekend we went to the Georgia Renasisance Festival. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast. Here are some pictures... YES, I uploaded pictures!!! WOOT!!!

Here are King Henry VIII, Anne Bolyen and their court.

And an Ogre... sorry, but I think he is WAAAAY cuter than Shrek.

Remember the dude with the pet log? Here he is with J-man and Bug.

Carl got kissed by a kissing wench. She called this a "smiley" because when he lifted his eyebrows it looks like it is smiling. See?

And J-man got a kiss, too.

Think he enjoyed it?

Where else will you see jousting?

And pirates?

J-man and Bug both got painted...

And I got my arm done.

Both kids made wax copies of their hands... yes, that is Coffeypot watching every move they made. And if you look real close you will see horns on the kids' heads... they ARE little devils. I've been trying to tell people that for ages.

If there are horses around, Bug is going to try and get to them. This big beauty was in the petting zoo and it was killing Bug that it wouldn't acknowledge her.

So she got Coffeypot to help her climb on a fence to look over the stall wall. I think the horse was surprised to see her because he lifted his head and she got to pet it. (You can see J-man's horns really well in this one!)

I have more pictures, but I've bored you enough. We had a great time...

Crazy kid

My dad, Carl, the kids, and I went to the Georgia Renaissance Festival yesterday afternoon. It was a BEAUTIFUL Sunday and we had to get out... cabin fever ya know.

I took quite a few pictures but haven't downloaded them yet. (Isn't that always the case?) I promise to work on that tonight and show you around the festival. If I don't get it done tonight it will be mixed in with the Alaska pics. This is the week that begins my three weeks of travel. My coworkers and I realized that after today, I will only be in the office 4 days over the next three and a half weeks. Crazy!!!

Back to the festival...

We got there early enough to watch King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn make their speeches. We got to see ogres, kissing wenches, fairies, pirates... all kinds of fun, lively people.

There was one guy holding a sign that said "Idiot" on it with an arrow pointing down at himself. I took a picture of J-man with him... and the guy turned the arrow so it was over J-man's head. Embarrassed him sooo much!

Later on that afternoon we were eating lunch. The "idiot" dude walked to where we were and we saw he was dragging a log... about a foot long and 6 inches thick. He was telling everyone it was his "pet log"...

J-man looked at it... then at us... then said,

"I wonder if that pet log has a woodpecker."

He had this look on his face like "I know that was funny, but am I gonna get in trouble for saying it?!"

Needless to say, he was pleased with himself when we all started laughing. He had caught me off guard so I almost choked because I was laughing so hard. I don't know what I'm gonna do with him!

Boys and their body humor...

Leavin'

It's been approved. I'm definitely going to LA on April 28 and I'll be there until May 1. I'm in the middle of getting all my reservations in order. Can corporate policy be any more confusing? All I need is a flight, car and hotel... why are there so many flippen restrictions?! I know there are crooks out there, but I'm not one of them!

Anyhoo...

If you live in the Cerritos area and know of good places to eat, give me a shout.

And how far away is that from The Ivy? I may want to join the paparazzi for a day or two.

Submission

funny pictures
moar funny pictures

I submitted this picture of Bug and Grimmy to I Has a Hotdog... think it'll make it on their site?

Hope so!!!

I'm a little worried though -- the caption at the bottom says it is from I Can Has Cheezburger which are cat pictures. I built it where they said to...

Don't care though. It's on MY blog and I think the picture is too funny. Doesn't it look like Bug is squeezing Grim's eyeballs out? LOL!!!!

Holes

Remember the hail storm we had about a week ago? Well... we were wrong. It seems we DO have damage to our house. Carl ventured into the backyard yesterday and saw holes in our siding.

Yes. Holes. And we have no less than six cracks in the siding as well. The drain pipe is also dented in at least a dozen spots.

There is one spot where if the hail had hit just an inch or two to the left it would have shattered J-man's bedroom window.

I'll take some pictures and let you see.

We might have to replace all the siding on the back of our house. A phone call has been placed to our insurance company. I just hope we can meet our deductible!

The joys of home ownership!

Quick thought

You can keep your fancy, schmancy, soft-grip, ergonomically correct, easy-grip pens. I like the plain ol' original Papermate medium ball point pen. (Preferably in blue, but this was the only picture I could find)

That is all.

Quick thought

Survivor and Lost on the same night...

Gosh I am a happy girl.
