What is your opinion of religion?
I'm a Christian. I believe in God and pray to him on a semi-regular basis. I don't, however, go to church like I should. If we make it to church on Easter or Christmas, we are doing good.
J-man has been baptised; Bug and Carl have not. My kids know about God. I want them to have that foundation, but getting my lazy butt up on a Sunday to take them to church is so hard! We love our church, but it is 30 minutes away. Carl and I have been discussing finding a new church home, but I am afraid to go looking.
I don't like looking for a new church because you just don't know what is around. I don't want a "traditional" one.... I don't want one that is old and set. I want something fresh - something new - like what we go to now. One that has guitars and drums and rock music to listen to before the sermon. One that makes me feel like I am doing OK living the way I do... not one that is all hellfire and brimstone. I don't want to be told I am going to hell for listening to the music I listen to, because I am friends/family with gay people, or because I cuss. I want to go to a church that isn't judgemental but gives me guidelines and forgiveness.
I have had too many prayers answered to not believe there is a higher being. He has blessed me and given me so much. I feel guilty that I don't worship him the way I am "supposed to", but as long as He is in my heart and we have a relationship, I think He'll understand.
oops.

UGH!! You just summed up why I'm not going to church. Thank goodness it's not just me! I just want a church that teaches me in a very non-judgemental way how to be a better Christian without all the old fuddy duddy stuff...
Agreed!!!
I agree with you and Amanda - aren't those [the fire and brimstone] churches the ones where they usually end up arresting people for...oh I don't know... not quite Christian acts anyway?
