30 Days of Truth: Day 11

Something people seem to compliment you the most on

I get a lot of compliments on my kids. Teachers, coaches, family members, and friends all say they are the sweetest, most polite children they know.

Carl and I have worked long and hard to ensure our kids are respectful of others. If the person they are interacting with is a person of authority, they had best say "yes, ma'am/sir" or "no ma'am/sir". We always wonder how they behave when out of our sight.

One of Bug's teachers told us one time that she is friends with everyone. It doesn't matter their race, religion, clique, or handicap. She befriends the new people and the outcasts. She talks to the athletic kids as well as the nerds. She is her mama through and through. She isn't in any group and yet is friends with all of them. I love that about her.

J-man is just a goof and that endears him to just about everyone. His teachers and coaches say he is the comic relief. If anyone is going to crack a joke, it will be J-man. Yes, there are some that think he is odd or wierd, but I tell him that is fine. He is who he is, and someday, he will be appreciated for that.

But no matter what, they are GOOD kids. Even when we are having grade issues, or homework not being turned in, Carl and I thank our lucky stars that they are not into drugs. Or fighting. Or bad behaviors that will send them to YDC or jail. I hope it stays that way!

Yes. They are the best.

You do have great kids. I always say - you can say my kids are smart or gorgeous - but the best compliment you can ever give me is to tell me I have NICE kids.

And I am happy to hear that a lot.
