Snip... snip... snip... GONE

Saturday was an experience.

I needed a haircut SO bad. It had been months since anyone touched my hair... the ends were damaged... it was too long... blah blah blah. See? (Sorry, no makeup)

SOOO, I decided to try a new salon in town. I wanted the ends trimmed about an inch or two and then cut so it would frame my face.

D was the gentleman that cut my hair (LOVE HIM)... he sat me in the chair and said "What do you want me to do?"

I said, "Make me beautiful. Cut off the dead ends and do what you want."

He asked other questions like, "Are you opposed to using a straight iron? (no)", "I can do anything? (sure)", "Positive? (ummm-- yeah)"

He tells me to lean my head down and snips cuts.

Bug was with me (she got highlights and an adorable cut - another post). She was sitting in a chair behind me and I could see her reflection in the mirror. When he took that first cut, her mouth dropped open and then she grimaced. My heart LURCHED.

Then I heard a sort of ripping sound at my ear. I jerked my head up and almost all the hair on the side of my head was gone.

D was grinning and said "You OK?"

I just said "fine".

The thoughts running through my head were "this is just like America's Next Top Model... the girls cry... you won't cry... it is only hair... OMG what have I done... what if I hate it... can I style this... it will grow out... the girls on ANTM do ok..."

He turned the chair around to work on the other side and this is what I saw on the floor.

All my hair!!! It was all around me in different lengths. It was EVERYWHERE. Bug was just staring at me google eyed and would shake her head or grimace if she caught my eye. I just about panicked, but what could I do?

So he finished the cut and blew it out. He wouldn't let me see it; said he wanted it to be a surprise. When he turned me around to the mirror this is what I saw.

I liked it. It is totally different than anything else I have ever had. I did heave a huge sigh of relief though... at one point he had put gel in his hands and was scrunching up the hair on the back of my head. I laughed and said "Oh thank god. I thought you were giving me the Kate Goselin there for a minute." He said "Oh, honey. I would NEVER do that to anyone!" tee hee

So Saturday I tried to style it myself. DISASTER. I cried for an hour. But today isn't so bad. I've resigned myself to the fact it will never look like what he did. I just try to make it my own. The picture below is from this morning at my desk.

Not too bad, huh?

Now wait until the end of this week when I get my new glasses! WOW... I'll be rockin' then!

I think it's really cute. I can never style my hair the way that the hair dresser does, either, and most times I end up crying cuz I think it looks awful after the 1st wash. My hair grows soo fast that I could have it trimmed every other week. That's the great thing about hair - it will always gro out.
I really like your new style. I think that you have done a fabulous job of making it your own. Seriously :)
Does Carl love it??

I love your hair! I was just the same - could never get my hair to look the same as when my hairdresser did it...until I discovered Aerogel.

The stuff is like a miracle in a can. I spray in on my hair, after I've blow dried it, and then just run my fingers through it.
I'm telling your, it's the best stuff I've ever used!

Marni - I really like it. It's cute. AND, you can totally practice and get that flip out thing going on. It just takes time. Last time I changed hairstyles (it's different than when you saw me), I didn't think I would ever get it. And then I did! But, Honey, it is CUTE, CUTE, CUTE! And you are BRAVE, BRAVE, BRAVE! I would never give someone I don't know carte blanche. Ever.

personally i like the new cut the way you styled it. ^_^ it's very cute!

i used to get a MAJOR hair cut every 5 years or so, but i like it long. and uh... i'm learning how to cut my own hair cuz i never like going to a salon. *^_^* but my hair is curly, so i don't have to sweat making sure everything is straight.

anywho, nice do!

I like it! I think your version looks a little softer than the way it was done at the salon -- looks like less maintenance, and it suits your face.

The salon do looked a little "messy" to me. I know that's the style these days, but I personally don't want the "I just rolled out of bed and my head looks like small rodents are nesting in it..." look. Just my thing, though. I like your version much more. Sleek and cute.

Can't wait to see Bug's hair as well!
