Did you see THAT?

The end of the Talledega race was so scary! I love Carl Edwards and Ryan Newman... behind Tony Stewart they are my favorite NASCAR drivers. To see Carl flip in the air, hit Ryan on his way up and then crash into the wall and fence scared me to death.

I just knew Carl had died. I sat there with my hands over my mouth until I saw movement in the car and his net go down. Then to see him run to the finish line... sweet relief.

No one was killed, and I am so sorry that seven (or is it eight now) people got hurt. Thank GOD for that fence! If it hadn't been there that car would have killed an entire section of the grandstand. That would have been tremendous a tragedy, but thankfully, safety is a strong part of NASCAR and the fence held up against accident.

I hope Carl can recover from it. He sounded pretty shaken up in his interview after it happened. That type of accident could change a driver's perspective and cause him to lose his edge. I hope it doesn't happen to him... he is a great driver! I would hate to never see his backflip again.

Pooldad and I couldn't believe it when he went airborne! We were saying land upright! upright!

I thought he was so cute when he ran to the finish line. He DESERVED that win - I hope they sanction the guy that manuevered into his rear panel - that was deliberate.

Thank goodness everyone is going to be okay.

Have a great week!

Those car jockeys are a different bread than us mere mortals. He will be alright as soon as he straps on another race car. If it had been me, it would have take six crewmen and three crowbars to pry my ass out of the seat, the suction would have been so great.

That was amazing, and the safety was solid. These folks who are demanding changes need to realize that it was only because Edwards' car went OVER Newman's that it went airborne like that. If Newman's car isn't there, Edwards comes back down on the track and none of that happens.

It was an ACCIDENT. Accidents happen.
