Rumor

I heard this morning that in the 2012 Olympics they are remvoing softball but adding...

get this...

CHESS.

Since when did Chess become an athletic sport?

Getting rid of SOFTBALL for a bunch of nerds to sit around a table and play a board game...

Come on... that, IMHO, is complete bull...

I knew that they were getting rid of softball, but I didn't know about the chess.

Of course International Chess is a sport. Haven’t you seen the players’ assistant sitting on the side with a water bucket and towel around his neck and one in his hand to wave in the air to create a breeze for the player? When the player makes a move, he will run over and wipe his brow and give him shot of Gatorade and give him advice like to juke and jive on the board, and to watch out for the Knight sneaking up on his right. The tension is so intese that the spectators and the judges have trouble sleeping at night due to stress. And the cheerleaders…

next they'll be adding Texas Hold 'em poker to the Olympics. They already play it on ESPN.

(And don't get me wrong, I like Hold 'em. I just don't think it is a sport.)

Personally, I think that chess is cool... but I like softball better.
