Carl and I always get gifts for one another. Our problem, though, is we give them to each other WAY before Christmas.
Take this weekend for example.
We are out and about and decide "hey! Let's get each other bikes for Christmas! We've been talking about it for years. We both need to lose a few pounds. We could ride around with the kids!"
So we did.
And we rode them yesterday with the kids.
Now my fanny is so freakin' sore! Not muscle sore. More like butt bone sore because those bicycle seats are NOT comfortable. But we had a blast. It was cold outside, but the wind blowing against my face as I watched the kids race beside me was awesome. At one point we had the four of us PLUS the kids friends with us. We were one big ol' pack cruising through the neighborhood... so much fun!
Now to keep it up...

Ah, that does sound like fun! I was looking at bikes this weekend myself, though not for myself. The Girl is getting a bike for Christmas. I found one I really liked and know she would like but could buy it because it was already put together and KB wants to put it together himself. WTF? Anyway, all of this to say that I saw a couple bikes with grown up seats, you know, ones that don't sit right on that ouch area and are a little bigger so your butt actually sits on them. I think I want a bike like that.
could NOT buy!
geez, now I have to go through word verification again!
OMG! My mousey is now a BIKER CHICK. Riding though the 'hood with her peeps, next she will be wearing t-shirts that read on the back, "If you can read this the Bitch fell off." I'm so proud!
I love this magazine called Livin Large. It's actually every day stuff make for really BIG people. Which I fall into that catagory. But what I love is that they have bike seats, that are extra wide, and inches of cooshie softness. hehehehehe
Now everyone should be allowed to buy that. lol
pedal power to you girl pedal power, gosh i haven't rode a bike for years have fun
Shawn and the girls always give me my gifts early.
ALWAYS.
I have not been bike riding in ages. You are right about the bike seat thing. My butt is way too big to do ant real riding. If a little wee butt like yours is sore...Yikes. I hate to think of how sore mine would be!
I suggest a nice cushy gel seat. It made a big difference for me! See if you can get a seat cover if you can't find a whole seat replacement.
I'm so clutzy on a bike it's not funny...
Keep up your biking adventures! Ours are packed away for winter.
I second the gel seat suggestion, it will make the ride a lot easier!
totally cool...sounds like you all had a blast...wish we could do that here but we are buried in snow..lmao.
I loved the idea of getting the bikes. I sometimes ride it to work during the summer, and I love to go out biking with the kids.
Sometimes, when I am riding the bike, I wonder if people can actually see it, or if they think I grew wheels out of my buttocks...
I enjoyed your blog very much. I came in here because of my blog buddy Biddie's recommendation, as I happen to be in Columbus, GA for the week...
I third the gel seat. I was gonna suggest it but Heidi and Chelene beat me to it. They are comfortable.
So did you ride on the Silver Comet Trail? If you haven't you should. It's awesome.
Good for you guys, I think spring might have been a better time to buy them but you can't change Christmas. I'm not so sure we're gonna have a very cold winter anyway.
Enjoy!
There is an award waiting for you at my place :)
That's amazing....I was just looking at a bike in the Christmas ads this past Sunday and thinking the same thing. I haven't had a bike of my own in years.
Sorry your butt is sore!
J.
My husband spent years trying to talk me into buying a good bike for myself; it was worth every penny but where is the big, old, wide, puffy seat?
I am dying to give my husband his present.
