I really didn't realize how dependent I am on my computer until last night.
Our internet connectivity went out around 7 p.m. I was on the phone immediately with our ISP thinking it was the router or phone line. I called for over THREE hours and never got through. I even called my dad to look up another service number -- and couldn't get through on that one either.
Carl came home for dinner and tried to help me figure out what was wrong. He had his work calling our ISP for help.
Can you see how desperate we were?
Carl went back to work and finally got through. It wasn't our computer - thank heavens. It was our ISP... they had some sort of "glitch" that took down the phone lines in 11 states. That is ELEVEN!
It was up this morning.... YAY!
oops.

I so understand, I call franticly too.
I do both my jobs on my home computer. So...I need mine worked on, but won't take it in, cuz the place wants it for 5 days. Ummmm I can't do that, I have a business to run.
We found a guy who used to own a computer shop in town, he's gonna make a house call. hehehehe
Mine went in and out for a couple of months!! After lightening hit a tree in our back yard. I pay my bills online so imagine how painful it was for me to actually go buy stamps and use snail mail!!!
what was life like without the internet and mobiles/cell phones!
Dontcha wish sometimes you had a hand crank on the back of your modem or computer so that when things aren't working right you can just wind it up and everything would be okay?
Or am I the only one?
Yeah -- we were wondering what was going on -- our internet was running slow as dirt last night. JF sorta freaked out a little, thinking we were eat-up with virii. Turned out that Offspring had been playing a "blow up the Teletubbies" game and we DID have a virus, but it was minor, and the outage was on the ISP's end, not ours. I didn't realize that it was so widespread, though....
I was without my internet for two whole weeks awhile back. I was phoning Heidi for updates on all of my buddies! I kept going to the computer, and turning it on, hoping that miracously that the internet would be back.
It was a BAD time.
Don't you just feel like Laura Ingalls when stuff like that happens?
lmao toooo funny...I have to admit I freak when my internet goes down too...lmao.
