The guys have gone fishing and J is still asleep. I'm sitting here reading blogs and trying to think of something to say.
Had an interesting week... on Wednesday I got a phone call from a woman wanting to interview me for a new position within the company. I was pretty excited since this came out of the blue. A few months ago I interviewed for a job that fell through. It seems those folks liked me -- they really liked me! -- and kept my resume. Well, when this position opened up they gave my resume to the woman that called me...
Anyway - had the official interview on Friday and it was great! I really think I have it. It is a promotion, but with no direct reports - thank heavens. I will have a LOT more responsibility so now I am hoping I didn't oversell my abilities. :) It will be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to doing this work. It is everything I love about what I do -- graphics work, building websites, creating newsletters... oooooh... I hope it is mine!
I had to tell my boss and his boss on Friday before I left. They took it very well - as they should- because what I do right now is BORING and I need to move on. I work on a presentation about once every two weeks and create a poster once a month. In between I am searching for something to do. Trust me, I enjoy sitting at my desk reading blogs all day, but I need to feel like I am earning my keep. Know what I mean? I am waiting on the day my boss calls me in his office to fire me for blogging and internet surfing... I may be exaggerating a bit... maybe.
Carl is already spending my promotion money. Heck, he is even talking about retiring. I told him I just want to enjoy having the extra cash. My plan is to take whatever extra pay I get and apply it to bills. I would LOVE to be debt free and then enjoy all the extra. That would be awesome. I just have to convince Carl that now is not the right time to leave his job and open a franchise... or buy a new truck...
I don't have the job yet and I hope I'm not jinxing it by writing about it. This is going to be a HUGE opportunity for me with high visibility to the big muckety-mucks of the company - I'm talking the CEO and owners, baby. I hope I can sleep the next couple of nights. I was told I would hear something on Wednesday.... hmmm.... my fingers are crossed!
oops.

My fingers are crossed, too! Can't believe you haven't mentioned this to me. CALL ME when you know something. And if you need newsletter advice ...
It was all so sudden I didn't tell anyone but Carl until after the interview. I'll let you know...
It will be sad to see you leave the group, but I do wish you good luck. The best news is, you'll still be around. You will be missed!
