I went to Orientation for the Atlanta 2-Day walk and then did a 4 mile training walk... OMG! What have I signed up for? There were eight other ladies walking and they have obviously been training or have done this walk before; they left me in the dust. I walked by myself for the entire time. At one point we had a choice to continue on for a six mile walk or start heading back - of course I chose to head back with two other people.
Toward the end I started catching up with them... I was pretty excited! When they looked back to check on me - and they did that often - I yelled "Either you are slowing down or I'm speeding up!" to which they quickly proclaimed they were slowing down. Great... I felt like such a loser because I was so far behind, but you know what? I don't care... it isn't a race! I am walking to support my mother and friend... who cares if I can keep up with the majority?
Once I got that attitude I started looking at the trees and houses we were walking by... then I started praying - not to help me finish the walk which I REALLY needed that prayer answered - but to thank Him for giving me this opportunity to get in shape and do something to help others. I enjoyed myself after that, but I am NOT looking forward to the next one.
I want to get these 30 miles over...
oops.

Don't forget the tortoise and the hare. I'm so proud of you. I was thinking about joining you for the two-day, but I'm going to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony for R.E.M.
Get out! That is awesome! I think I'd rather join you -- way cool!
