Noooooo!

I have been a huge fan of John Sandford and his "Prey" series for a long time. I haven't read one in quite a while, but his detective - Lucas Davenport - has stuck in my mind since I was first introduced to him.

I've always imagined him as a Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, or Samuel L. Jackson kinda guy... rough, rugged, scarred... built like a MAN... growly...

Scrolling through the TV today I noticed that his book Mind Prey was on as a movie! I was so stoked!

Then I saw who was playing Lucas...

Eriq La Salle

NOOOOOOOOOOO! That is NOT Lucas!

He's a good-lookin' enough guy, but not for Lucas. He isn't rough enough... or growly... or raw like Lucas is described in the book.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

So wrong. When was the last time LaSalle did anything anyway? Yuck.

I definitely had someone else in mind - Denzel came to mind first when I was reading the books and remember "Spencer for Hire" - Robert Ulrich's sidekick "Hawk" that is the guy I always pictured as the sidekick detective in the books [although he is way too old now - I date myself even bringing up Spencer for Hire, don't I? :)]

Will Smith? No.... and Harrison Ford is not only too white - he is WAY too old...LOL

Eventhough Denzel is a bit long in the tooth to play a father of elementary kids - he is still my first choice - yum.

Pooldad and I always wonder tho' when the heck is Nana going finally die? How old is she 112? ;)

PS - and why didn't I know this was made into a movie already? What channel are you watching [ex. HBO, Starz? etc?]

Thanks - I need a good laugh. hee

It was on LMN (whatever channel that is...)

I just picture Lucas as rough not clean-cut like they had him portrayed. I almost cried when I saw it and they called him Lucas.

Sigh

Marni I am so embarrassed I was thinking of the character Alex Cross by James Patterson, oops...that has Nana and the sidekick "Sampson"...hee, were you confused by my ramblings?

And yes I have Prey series and you are right - Eric La Salle still doesn't fit.

Man, I either read too much or the Lupus is really affecting the old memory lobes - giggle

Love you - sorry if I jacked your comments! :)
