Home

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. It truly helped me the past few days.

We are home and J-man is comfortable.

Let me try to tell you the difference just one day makes.
  • Yesterday he was crying whenever someone came near him. Today he let us move him from bed to wheelchair to truck back to wheelchair and then the sofa bed at home... cracking jokes the whole time.
  • He has only had two pain pills since 4 a.m.
  • He is telling us when it hurts.
  • He can pee in his pee jug without help. (he'd KILL me if he knew I told you that)

He is an amazing kid. I couldn't go through what he just went through and act the way he is. I have never seen a more brave person.

But he is turning into an obnoxious teenager. I believe I watched him turn in to one this week and he won't officially be 13 until August 1. I have never seen more eye rolling nor heard so many heavy sighs as I did this week. And it is rubbing off on his sister.

I may have to break his legs again just to make it stop. :)

Kidding -- oh dear lord I never want to go through all of this again.

Two weeks and he goes back for a check up... they will remove the foam thing from between his legs.

Six weeks and we check back in for 3 days of rehab.

Then we are D.O.N.E.

Whoopeee!!!!!!

So glad you are home and he is doing so well. I had quite a few surgeries as a kid and I can tell you that it is much harder being the parent watching the child go through it than it is to be the kid laying in the bed. This is something I didn't realize until I was the parent watching my child go through surgery. It gave me a whole new appreciation for my mother.
As for the eye rolling, ummm, no real advice there, but I hear that they turn human again sometime in their 20's if you're lucky. In the meantime, just remember that you are nowhere near as stupid as they think you are right now. It'll get better..... eventually. LOL

Glad you are home. I am glad J-man is home too, of course. Poor baby.

Anyway, glad he is feeling a bit better.

Does the eye rolling stop once it starts? Because I haven't seen it stop yet...

I'm glad he's doing so good, glad he's home. Now you can count down instead of it seeming like such a long time. Each day it will be shorter. whooohoooo

He is a brave kid. I would be crying my eyes out and popping pain pills.
Hugs to you and J man.

Wow. Thank God kids are so resilient, huh? I know plenty of adults who'd be totally wrecked and helpless by what he's going through.

Keep on.
