Good morning, Baltimore!

J-man's birthday is this week so he had a friend come over on Saturday for a "spend the night" shindig. Being the wonderful, sweet wife that I am, I decided to let Carl stay home alone with the boys for a while. I mean for the past two years I've been stuck in the house, alone, with four screaming, giggling little girls! It would do him some good to see what that feels like even if it was for a couple of hours.

Bug and I took off shortly after J-man's friend arrived. She and I headed to the mall to pick up J-man's cookie cake (which is so freakin' good!) but before we grabbed it we went to see a movie.

While planning this outing I asked Bug what she wanted to see. I said, "there aren't any good kid movies out right now, so I'm not sure what we can go to." She piped up and said, "I know! HAIRSPRAY!"

I was soooo excited that she wanted to see that. After all, I've turned her on to Grease! My girl, I thought, is becoming a movie musical lover. But that wasn't her motivation. Oh no.

She just wanted to see Zac Efron.

I can't blame her, though. He is a cutie. If I were a 9 year old little girl, I'd be crushin pretty hard on him, too.

The final scene - where Tracey and Link (Zac) kiss - was hard on Bug. She held her hand in front of her eyes and wouldn't look. I asked her why and she said it made her uncomfortable. She said she only wants to see him kiss HER! My mouth dropped open and I had to laugh. Remember those crushes? It is so much fun to see her feeling the way I felt about Leif, Shaun, Scott, Donnie... all my guys from when I was her age.

Anyway.

I loved the movie! It was fun, colorful, playful, and funny. One drawback... I couldn't look at John Travolta when he was on screen. He DOES NOT make a pretty lady, and his accent drove me crazy.

I loved, loved, loved Nikki Blonski (the girl that played Tracey)! She is so talented and a delight to watch. I hope to see more of her in the future...

Actually, the whole cast was great. They were all beautiful and talented. We have some pretty good talent out there right now. These kids seem to have their heads on straight - unlike the other "starlets" that are such losers. I'll steer Bug toward the kids in this movie any day!

The songs were awesome. Bug and I were dancing in our seats the entire time. If you want a fun escape, go see it. We even went out and bought the soundtrack... I'm listening to it as I type this.
It'll make you smile!

Bug bought, with my money, a teen mag with Zac on the cover and set in the recliner with me and went through all the pictures explaining what was happening in each frame. I told her I thought Bart Simpson was prettier and she punched me in the leg. Love her.

And J-Man found a picture of Hanna Montana on the web and printed it out. He left it in the truck, though. I'm saving it for him. Love him, too.

They are growing up so fast.

My girls want to see Hairspary in the worst way. I just don't think that it's in the budget right now...Kayla LOVED the play (she saw it in Toronto) and I think that Jessica might be a bit like Bug...She might be looking for Zac.
I hope that it stays in the theatres for awhile!

I loved the original Hairspray. I must have watched that movie dozens of times. Kid L wants to see this version and so do I, so we will probably see it soon.

Zac scares me b/c he is always so tanorexic looking and the amount of goop in his hair scares me. Of course, Kid L thinks he's great.

I had a thing for Corey Feldman and then Johnny Depp. I still have a thing for Johnny Depp.

I loved the original Hairspray and can't wait to see this one either. I'm a huge fan of John Travolta and imagine his accent and looking at him will drive me crazy. It already has from watching ET.

If I don't get to the theatre to see this, I will own it. Just like Grease and Grease 2, you have to watch it when it's on. Haven't seen High School High yet, but I think I would like it.

If you get a chance, watch the movie Connie and Carla...it's awesome. It has a totally gay theme but they sing all the classic broadway tunes. And David Duchovany (spelling might be wrong) in it. It's a great movie. My nephew is 10 and he loved it-we watched it last week.

I wanna see Hairspray too! If EdieRaye (my Movie Club partner) recovers from her cold, we'll go at the end of the week! WUHOO!

Offspring also has a major thing for Zac Efron. She loved High School Musical, and she's impatiently waiting for High School Musical 2 to come out on August 17th.

I don't think she wants to see "Hairspray", though -- she says it totally wigs her out to see John Travolta dressed as a woman. And as a fat woman to boot.

I'm still on the fence about seeing it. Travolta in drag frightens me. And I love the original movie so much, I wonder if the musical will pale in comparison.
