Major change

Like Dozer, I'm not one for change. I like things to stay the same... or if they have to change it has to be manageable. That is why I'm having a hard time with my latest news.

I'm leaving my job.

The one I've been at for the past 10.5 years. The one were I started when J-man was 15 months old; where I worked when Bug was conceived and born; where I started and graduated from grad school; where I worked when I had my surgery... basically the place where I have grown and matured.

It is difficult to leave.

I have made and lost friends. I have kept one friend - my first supervisor - throughout my years. He means the world to me. He is like my brother. Thinking about leaving him makes me want to cry. Thinking about my morning cup of coffee without him makes my heart hurt.

He needs it though.

We depend on each other too much. Maybe now he will get the courage to step out and find that perfect job. The one at the beach. He knows what I'm talking about.

My new job?

Another big company. Another household name. I'll be doing instructional design - that's one of those manageable changes. I'll get to learn and write about something other than Finance. I'll be working with one of those "lost" friends that got laid off a few years back. He is one of the coolest, funniest guys I know. He makes me laugh so hard it hurts.

The team I'll be working with is awesome. I've know them through Lost Friend for over a year - we have lunch each month, we talk about Lost, and we agonize over Americal Idol. So mixing in with them shouldn't be too difficult.

Why am I so scared?

Change can be scary, especially when you get comfortable somewhere.

Mr. MFBA has been talking about changing jobs for over a year but the comfort of knowing what is expected keeps him at a job he loves with a company he hates.

I know how scary new beginings can be, but I think that this will be a positive expirience.
When are you starting your new job?
Totally off topic, I heard a nasty rumor...I heard that Lost was cancelled. Any truth to this? Has anyone else heard anything?

I had a big change last year I moved from England to Ireland, it was the most scary thing of my life.
Change sometimes is what people need because they get set in their ways and need a new challenge, so go for it and I wish you all the very best of luck please keep us informed when you start, and how it is going.

CCW: Tell him to go for it...
life is too short to stay someplace you hate.

Biddie: I start Dec. 4 -- not too far away! And Lost hasn't been cancelled... just have to wait until friggin February 7 to see a new episode

I know that it's hard to make changes, especially monumental ones. But, we don't grow without change, so look on it as a chance from you to grow beyond what you already have.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

I wish you much luck and success. I agree that it's terrifying to leave what you know to venture out to find something better.
