I know it is paying for music that I could be listening to for free. But... I don't have to listen to commercials. That in itself is worth it to me.
The station that I listen to the most is channel 49 - Big Tracks. They dub themselves "Our Generation's Classic Rock". That depresses me in a way... when did the music I loved in the 80s and 90s become classic? It is still fun to rock to.
The music selections run hot and cold. Some days they play selections I don't really care for and I'll bounce around to other stations... but then there are the days that totally rock. Those are the days I turn up the radio so loud that it drowns out my screeching. I sing at the top of my lungs - all the way home.
Like yesterday... I got some of my favorites on my drive home.
- I Can't Drive 55 - Sammy Hagar
- Fire and Ice - Pat Benatar
- Only the Young - Journey
- More Than a Feeling - Boston
- Dream Police - Cheap Trick
I'm ready to see what Top Tracks has in store today... I'm ready to go home!

I think any satellite station is better than FM radio...
I just got XM radio the other day. I couldn't live without it now!
When they put Rush Limbough, Neal Bortz and The Kimmer on XM or Sirius I'll get one. Until then, AM, uh, Rocks??
There is more to life than those ol' geezers. YUCK!
Those old geezers are younger than me. Maybe they should be calling me for advice.
Ummmm.... no
Marni! I have a date with channel 9 tonight!
I still listen to FM but I think I have to expand a little. I'm a total music fan but this mainstream thing is so redundant. I want to know what's new. However I am too cheap to pay for it. What to do. What to do...
See ya tomorrow for the results!
Pay for it... you won't be disappointed. Especially if you listen to music a lot... if you only listen for a few minutes a day I don't think it would be worth it.
My friend Francesco just called me to sing along with his XM station selections. If I had more than 10 miles to drive to work, I'd get it.
Marni, let those old geezers call Coffeypot for advice. I'd like to see how the country is run under his influence ...
I have Sirius, too. My two faves channels are First Wave (typical 80's "darker" new wave stuff) and Big 80's (everything from the 80's).
I love my satellite radio! Sirius also has the great online option of FREE internet radio! (Plus, anyone can get a free 3 day internet trialfrom www.sirius.com!)
Klee: First you try to get me into the pirates and now it is Sirius... when will it end?
BTW - go to www.toontown.com... I addicted to that game as well!
I have had XM for a couple of years but do not have it in my car. I have the boombox and use it as often as I can. I get so excite when I play it. Atlanta radio sucks...I SAID IT SUCKS. Why don't we have a 70's, disco, or 80's channel, we're big enough? I move from 80's to 70's, BPM, disco and all over. My favorites though are the ones from the 70's that makes you sing with big nostrils. I call it "Big Nostril" music. My sister and I sing it when we're together (Carpenter's, Seals & Croft...). I need to get it hooked up in my car. I have a 45 min - 1 hour drive everyday too.
Thanks, now you have Dream Police stuck in my head.
But that is an AWESOME song!
True, but I keep hearing it in Apu's voice thanks to the Simpsons.
