My brave hubby

I have posted a couple of stories where my brave hubby kills the creepy bugs that invade our home. Have you noticed, though, that the bugs he kills aren’t spiders? That is because he is terrified of them. He freaks out when he sees one and makes ME kill them.

When Bug was about a month old I was sitting in our recliner - next to the fireplace - rocking her to sleep. Something caught my eye. It was a HUGE spider and he was about a foot from me.

I called – well, actually I yelled – for Carl to come kill it. He walks to the fireplace and then takes a few steps back.

Carl: Uh-uh. No way. I’m not TOUCHING that thing!

Me: You have to! I can’t kill it! I’m holding the baby and she is almost asleep.

We had some gift bags in the living room from baby showers and late well-wishers. I told him to put one of those on the floor under the spider and then hit it with a shoe. When he hit it, the spider would fall into the bag. Sounded like a plan, right?

He did what I suggested. He stood as far away as possible and slid the bag under his intended victim; I think he even used a broom handle to push it as close to the fireplace as he could. He goes to hit the spider with a shoe – and it JUMPED AT HIM!

I swear Carl screamed like a little girl! He bounded across the living room in two steps and was up on the second stair of our staircase in a blur. (The room was about 14 feet long). He kept saying, “Where did it go! Did you see that? It jumped at me! Where did it go?!” Call me mean, but I couldn’t stop laughing.

We couldn’t find the spider. It didn’t fall in the bag. It wasn’t under the recliner or in the fireplace; it disappeared.

About a week later, Carl, J-man and I were walking in the house after going to the grocery store. Little J-man– he was three at the time – walked over to the staircase and stomped his little foot as hard as he could. He had found the spider and it was now smooshed.

I tease Carl to this day… my big, brave guy!

First of all, cute, cute pug !
Maybe you should have put the spider in the gift bag he was going to use and give it to him on a special occasion. On the gift card: To Spiderman...YE-OW-EE

Thank you for stopping by! Yes, that pug is my Dozer -- the love of my life.

As for the spider in a bag... I would probably be divorced now if I did that to him. :)

Funny story. But I don't know why people are so freaked out by spiders (except for the fact that some of them may be poisonous...) I usually leave them alone if I see them in the house because they eat other things that we want around even less, like mosquitoes.

I guess they just look wierd. I always say if it doesn't have four legs and fur I don't want anything to do with it!

Too funny!!! Although I'm kinda with him on this one, I can't stand spiders. Not afraid of much else but spiders really creep me out.
For my husband, it's mice or rats. We had a rat get into the house one night and I swear he screamed like a girl and ran off, leaving our 4 month old son in his bouncy chair a few feet from the rat. Once I got the baby out of the way, I couldn't stop laughing at the way he screamed. Still cracks me up just thinking about it.

My Hubby will kill anything for me.Usually, he puts the spider outside rather than killing it, though. I am TERRIFIED of creepy crawlies, big time.
The one thing that my guy won't do is fold laundry straight from the dryer. He'll kill any bug or rodent, face his fear of heights, but he hates the feel of fabric softner sheets. You want to hear him scream like a girl?
Make him fold laundry!
