Heroes

So I watched the premier of NBC's Heroes last night. Carl and I have been anticipating this show for a while now. It was intriguing… it was strange… it was good! The premise is that the human race is slowly changing. Our DNA is morphing to include “super powers” and there are already some people on the planet with them. They don’t know it yet and are only now uncovering their power.

There is a junkie that can predict the future, a doctor who can fly (and his brother may be able to as well), a single mom that has a terrifying alter ego (think female hulk), a Japanese man that can teleport, and a young girl that cannot hurt herself.

The Japanese guy is my favorite so far. He LOVES Star Trek and wants to be a super-hero. When he telepathically moves the hand on his clock backwards his enthusiasm was SO funny. Then he teleports himself into the ladies restroom and, ultimately, to New York. All of his scenes had sub-titles, but it was so much fun watching him.

The young girl attempted to hurt herself by jumping off some type of structure. She dislocated a shoulder and broke a rib; she set her shoulder and then pushed her protruding rib back. into. her. body. She saved a man from a fire, but didn’t get burned. She put her hand into the garbage disposal and mangled it… but it healed and regenerated her fingers. Pretty neat - yet spine chilling – stuff.

There are other “super” people we have yet to meet – I know of one that can read other people’s thoughts.

The whole show has a comic book vibe to it with a mix of X-files. It is truly one of the most interesting new shows on TV. I have also discovered that NBC.com is going to post a weekly web comic tied to the show. (The scenes for next week also involves each character in a comic book.)

I am extremely curious to see how this show pans out. Is it as good as Lost… nope. But I’ll be hooked on this one for a while.

I'm curious... If you could have a superpower – what would it be?

I completely forgot about this show, and I wanted to see it. But Bridget Jones's Diary was on Bravo, so I watched it (twice).

My superpower? To lose 30 pounds and build a** muscle at a single glance.

I saw the show and liked it. I would want to be able to fly. Teleporting would be cool, but you wouldn't get to enjoy the scenery like you would if you fly. Changing into Tom Selleck would be cool, too.

No doubt about it, if I had a super power, it would be invisibility. Oh, the things that I could do!
