I went and got a hair cut yesterday. No big deal, right? Wrong.
For the past couple of years I have been going to a "salon" to have my hair cut, colored and styled. I've been dropping a couple of hundred dollars to fix the one part of my being I have always been the most proud of. I never bat an eye.
That was before we bought this house and our budget went to hell in a hand basket. Now we are watching our pennies and making it paycheck to paycheck. We are OK financially - money is just something that freaks me out. I have to have some set aside that we CANNOT touch. Plus I always put the kids and puggers first.
SO - I have been putting off my hair cut for about 4-5 months now. It was looking pretty rough. I bit the bullet and decided to go to The Hair Cuttery (insert the dum-dum-dummmm music here). Now don't get me wrong... I have nothing against this particular establishment. It is where the kids and Carl go to get their strands trimmed. I've just had some pretty bad cuts from these strip mall establishments... and I always hear my mom whispering "You get what you pay for" while I'm sitting in their chair.
I was waiting my turn when this young, adorable girl asked me if I wanted my hair shampooed. I said yes thinking she was doing it for one of the older ladies that was busy chatting and cutting away. Nope... wrong... SHE cut my hair. I swear she looked like she just got out of high school! She just moved here from Virginia with her "fiance". I just held my breath the whole time. She asked if I wanted it dried... No. I'll take care of it myself.
Got in the car. Put on a hat. Having looked at it YET. Now I have to go take my shower. And then dry my hair.
I'm nervous.
oops.

sorry, i don't know how to make that link linkable...i am such a moron
You know we're all dying to know how it turned out....
A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! I can get mine, Jarrett’s and Jordan’s hair cut for a YEAR for that much money. What do they do, weave it with 24 karat gold strands? Come to the house. I’ll get a bowl and scissors and fix you up for $15. I also have a water hose to wash your hair for free.
Jeeeez that is scary. One thing, it will grow back. I cut my bangs, but I am with you. I haven't and should sink some money into my hair, but I only have 2 arms and 2 legs. When I was single, I had my hair permed and trimmed and my nails done regularly. Now...
It's OK... looks the same -- just a little shorter. I still wish I could go to the salon... oh, well.
I didn't break down in complete hysterical tears - I guess that is a plus!
Nancy! That hair! I think I like it a lot better short... beautiful!
Glad it turned out ok. My hair budget has greatly decreased by the purchase of a house and adding 2 more kids to the family, but I simply cannot give up the salon. So, I now go every 3 (or 4 if I can stretch it) months instead of every 6 weeks.
