It started about 2:30 this morning... my back starts to hurt, then my chest... it affects the dream I'm having... suddenly I'm awake and know it is one of those damn attacks and it hurts like hell!
This is about the sixth one I've had in the past 2 years. I believe it came on because I haven't been drinking my water regularly and I ate a hamburger that Carl cooked; the combo did me in. Grease minus water equals one bad night. :)
Dr. Smith's assistant thinks it is a residual from having my gall bladder removed in 1997. When they remove the gallbladder, a little stem is left -- well it seems I am still creating gallstones but they get stuck in that little tube! And boy does that feel awful!
This one was pretty bad, but not like one where I wound up calling an ambulance... that one was prior to this "diagnosis". The doc wants me to go to the hospital the "next time one of these happen" to get some kind of test done, but I have found that when they start I can drink lots of water and it goes away faster. No need to go to the hospital if I'm not having the pain! Plus it always seems to happen in the middle of the night; what a pain to call Carl home.
I don't want another surgery! I've been there, done that, and really am not looking forward to that again. Call me dumb, or think I am in denial, and you would be CORRECT! I fully admit it!
The pain has been gone for about 15 minutes now... I'm going to finish this glass of water and try to get some more sleep. I hope it doesn't come back...

Oh, Marni, that's awful — and pain is always worse in the middle of the night. If you need help again when Carl's at work, you can always call me.
Thank you for the offer. I hope it doesn't come back for a long time. I'm sore today, but doing better. Just VERY tired.
