I call BS

My daughter loves the Jonas Brothers... she's 10 for heaven sake and thinks they are sooo cuuuuuuute!

She can tell you pretty much anything you want to know about them and will defend. them. to. the. death.

So the radio station I listen to in the morning is giving away tickets for their concert this summer. Today they were actually giving away second row.

Because I am a super cool and hip mama, I have been trying to win these tickets for her all freakin' week. It has been hell getting anything but a busy signal, so this morning when the phone actually rang and someone said "name of radio station" I got really excited and said "I'm calling about the Jonas Brothers tickets!" Normally when I get thru they say you are caller whatever and hang up. This time they said the name of the station in a normal tone and was waiting to talk to me.

Sounds like I won, right?

NO!

The girl says "We already have winner but thank you for calling"

The contest had only been going on a minute or two... and they had to get to caller 100.

When they finally announced the winner, it was a teenager and she was - rightfully - sooo excited. Thinking back on it -- all the winners this week have been teenagers.

When this same radio station was giving away tickets to meet Hannah Montana they kept asking the parents to record their kids' reactions when they were told. The kids are usually in school when these contests are going on so you never get to hear how excited they are to win.

So this week - I think - they intentionally blocked "adults" from winning tickets for their kids so teenage girls/fans could be the ones that actually won. They could then broadcast screaming, giggling, breathless little girls thanking them to the heavens for letting them go see their favorite boys on earth.

It pissed me off though, because I wanted those tickets for MY DAUGHTER!!!!!

Don't tell me you already have a winner when you are just waiting for the perfect caller -- not the correct number.

Oh, I call BS too! Let's start a "We call BS" club. Fortunately, The Girl doesn't like Jonas Brothers. Thank you Baby Jesus.

Caller 100, huh?

Next time, just break out your I'm-a-Jonas-Brothers-worshipping teenager voice.

I can't comment because you know Pooldad used to be a DJ on the radio...so I know how these things go [remember you have heard his voice...giggle]but I don't think it is as nefarious as you think sweetie.

I am sorry - I will happily donate some $$ to a fund for tickets for you and Bug if you like. Nothing would make me happier than y'all going to that concert. You having to sit through it [oh how blog worthy!] and her absolute delight.

You are a good Momma for trying. You deserve kudos.

Bummer - I wish you had won.
I'm thinking bad thoughts about the radio station...does that help any?

I agree it's b.s.

Thankfully when Teen L saw them last year the ticket was given to her by a friend at the last minute. She didn't know she was going until she came home from school that day.

The report was: they are soooooo cuuuuuutttttteee.
