Red and freaky

When I get home the first thing I do is change out of my work clothes. Depending on what we are doing that evening, I will either put on PJs, sweats, or jeans and a tshirt. As I am getting the new duds on, one or both kids come in to talk to me about their day (or mine).

Tonight, J-man told me that last night he woke up with a runny nose. When he wiped it with his hand (of course - ewww) he realized it was bloody. He said he freaked out a little, but went to the bathroom for a tissue and cleaned up the mess without waking up me or his dad.

Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago. He jumped up and ran to the kitchen holding his nose. It was ANOTHER nose bleed. It stoppped after a minute or two.

He's had these before when he was younger, but it has been ages. I asked him if he had been picking his nose and he said no. Our heat isn't on, so the house isn't very dry.

What could be causing this? When should I worry? Do I need to take him to the doctor? Is this just part of growing up? I've never had one and to see blood rushing out of my kid's nose is freaking me the hell out!!!!

I used to have nosebleeds all the time when I was a kid and it was never anything, it just happened. (no time travel, either, I swear.)

I don't think it's anything to worry about unless it continues.

I think you just need to stop playing that "gotcha nose" game so hard...

Actually if it isn't gushing blood for several minutes it is probably nothing. Both my kids got nose bleeds every once in a while. I think it is normal.

I would read the link.

That said, if it lasts for longer than 5 days [on/off] I would take him to see your Practicioner, unless [of course] if won't stop. Then my two lil' mammals [the Squirrel & the Porcupine] would be out the door in a heartbeat.

Big help, ain't I? He does sound fine tho'.

I am sure it has something to do with humidity/dryness...something with the weather.

I'm sure it's nothing serious.

Does he have allergies? I've heard that people with allergies will have nosebleeds from time to time. I know I do.

I used to get them all the time. It might help to see if he has low iron levels, that's what we did for me, but it turned out to be nothing. Mine were really bad though, and it still wasn't a big deal. I'm sure he'll be ok.
