Normally this town shuts down when it snows or ices over.
This morning it was 16 degrees when I got in my car... and our county cancelled school today! WTH?
No other counties have done such a thing. Just ours.
The kids ain't complainin'!!!!

with windchill here in Northern VA is it in the negatives - about 6 school systems have cancelled or are going in late because of the weather...[mostly the outlying counties or the mountainous regions]
I think in GA it might have to do with the fact the kids might not have the outerwear necessary to stay warm enough walking to school or waiting at the bus stop - no one is prepared for this kind of weather...
We are actually keeping the youngest home [we have all the gear, but it is simply TOO cold for this imo]- but our high schooler is going because she has an exam - otherwise I would keep her home.

Carl had planned on taking both kids to the bus stop and keeping them in the truck with him. But now we don't have to worry about it. You are right though, we definitely don't have the correct outerwear for this type of cold.
I had to walk from the parking deck to the building this morning... I had on a thick coat and a scarf around my head, but my forhead felt like it was going to freeze off. And I was only in it for less than 3 minutes. AWFUL.
The local schools here closed, but then it was more than 10 below and the wind chill was 25 or 30 below.
I just wish work was also cancelled.
Sorry - 16...that's cold. I'm freezing here (inside my heated house with a coat on) and It's up to 33. Stay Warm!!!
I wish someone would cancel my work when it gets cold. But I'm like the mail man no matter the weather you better make it to work. they take no excuses.
Sorry it is so cold. I kind of wish we had a little bit of it...just a little. We have been in the mid 60's, and it just doesn't feel right. I feel like we get cheated out of the seasons!
