Witness

I walked to the bookstore at lunch today and witnessed something scary. I saw a college kid on a bike get hit by a car.

I didn't see the actual impact. I was looking in a store window and heard a horn blare. I looked ahead and saw a bike and kid laying on the ground. The driver had jumped out of the car and was helping him up. Luckily she was pulling out of a parking garage and didn't hit him too hard. he was limping a little and holding his left arm, but nothing looked askew.

But the idiot didn't have on a helmet.

I asked if there was anything I could do and they said no, so I went on my merry way. I heard her offer the kid a ride to where he was going, but I guess he turned her down. He was still sitting outside the building when I came back from my errand. He was talking to a security guard and saying he "didn't want to be a burden, but she is on her way". Guess his mom was coming to get him.

He is one lucky guy. I don't know who was at fault, but either way, I hope they both learned a lesson... look both ways AND wear a helmet!

I'm thinking a cell phone incident on both of their parts.
I can't believe the # of bicyclists who have cell phones glued to their ears.
Ah, what am I saying, cell phones are so yesterday. They have those bluetooth things hooked to their heads jabbering away.
Oh, Ipods anyone?
