J-man is asking Santa for a video game chair this year. Carl and I ordered it for him along with Bug's request - Tekno Pony.
Yesterday afternoon Carl and Bug pulled into the driveway and wouldn't you know it... the UPS man was there with the delivery. The HUGE box with the video chair inside had a picture on the outside.
Bug saw it.
Luckily, Tekno Pony didn't have a picture. She has no idea that that was in the other box. Phew.
Now when they get up Christmas morning and she sees the chair, she is going to know there is no Santa. That makes me sad. I want to tell her that sometimes Santa makes early deliveries to the parents when the present is too large to put in the sleigh. Should I? Or should I just wait and see what happens?
Zesty.

wait and see what happens, if she mentions it then you have the answer ready, we used to say we had to help Santa with the big items too and it worked for us.
Marni...didn't you know that the UPS man is just one of Santa's many helpers? Y'know like the Santas in the malls.
She'll be fine..believe me. They WANT to believe in Santa...and I know & you know "Santa" just couldn't do Christmas without the UPS man. Right?
Besides - the kids in school are a heck of a lot more heinous in ruining the Santa thing than the UPS guy ever could. And what kind of company puts a PIC' of the box. Silly!
No worries, she'll never know!
honey my son is 11 and still believes in santa. He knows that santa won't get him anything more expensive than his parents can afford. hehehehe
I think he sorta knows now. But we love to keep it alive. But to a point he still believes, and I will never make him stop, I don't care what other people say.
I'm the same way. I told J-man that Santa is really a "feeling" around Christmas and as long as he believes, Santa will come.
Don't directly lie to her. Just wait and see what she says. I'm pretty sure she knows the truth by now. The kids at school will tell her before you do. But then again she may still believe. I did until I was 45.
I'd let it go unless she directly asks about it.
I always told Teenager, and still do, that it is the believing that makes it true, not the logistics!
You could always make that gift be from you and Carl and have Santa give him a different gift.
Otherwise, I wouldn't mention it and see what happens.
I found out about Santa when I was 5. I didn't tell my mom until I was about 11. She promptly told me that if I didn't believe then I would be getting very few presents.
That shut me up, I still get presents from Santa to this day.
WHAT!?!The is No SANATA!! I'm crushed!!
maybe you can just explain that Santa is so busy that sometimes parents (and UPS) have to help him out????
I don't like the idea of Santa delivering early. That ruins the whole idea of Christmas day. I like the idea of giving that from you and dad and letting Santa get her other stuff.
Ok..My gripe is with the STUPID companies that don't know NOT to put the picture on the outside!!! I have had so much Christmas stuff delivered and half of it has pictures on it. It is a game of running home and throwing the box in the garage before the kiddies see! This year, I ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon and it is great because all you get is the Amazon box.
One of my daughter's classmates told her about Santa, but she is a trouble maker so I told her she was just trying to be mean.
As parents, we are the last to know what our kids already know by age 5.
The standard speech is that "if you don't believe, Santa WON'T come so you better save some belief inside of you".
I can't remember when my kids figured it out, but I always tell them that if they don't believe in Santa he won't bring gifts.
They are 13 and 14, and still believe (right....)
LOL!
My mom will always put presents under the tree from Santa. He has her handwriting, too.
