Almost

We came thiiiiiis close to having a new member in our family yesterday.

The kids and I went to the mall to return a couple of items and let the kids spend the gift cards that were burning holes in their pockets. The place was practically deserted at 8 in the morning so we walked the length of the mall.

And went into the pet store where we ran into the cutest little thing.

It was a black, female pug puppy.

The exact puppy Carl wants; he's been talking about getting one since we rescued Grimmy. If he had been with us, I have no doubt I would be potty training a little one again.

I didn't ask how much she cost - I probably would have choked. Instead I just held her, smelled her sweet puppy breath, and kissed her cheeks and head. Then I handed her back to the store employee, grabbed each kid's hand and walked out of the store dragging them behind me. All I kept saying was "No. No. No!"

It was hard leaving her behind, but it is for the best.

It must be like Chihuahuas... it's so hard to stop once you get started... I mean really, what's one more?!

I've always said pugs are like potato chips -- you can't have just one!

OH you SOO did the right thing. We lost a puppy who got away and got hit last year, and every once in a while the urge hits.
Then..I think about puppy poop, puppy barf, and basically it being a year before they are good companions...and..well..."walk on by....walk on by"....
GOOD saying no. THINK about it..and pray for it to go to a DIFFERENT loving family!

I know she will go to a good family -- not as good as OURS, but good enough.
