Dogs get vacations, too

Carl just called and said he was about to get the boys dressed and take them to the "doggie hotel".

What does that mean?

He is putting on their harnesses (because they run around the house nekkid) and is taking them to the kennel for the week.

Why does that make me want to cry? They are going to be OK. Even if they are going to be in a "run" for an entire week... without me... without a tv... without a soft bed. Breaks. My. Heart!

They'll be in the same run together so that is a plus. But I still made Carl take their doggie pillow (in the pictures a couple of posts below) so they will have something that smells like home. I don't want to think of them sleeping on a hard floor. AND I don't want them to think we have abandoned them.

I miss them already. The spoiled brats.

Oh, I understand exactly what you mean about that. We take ours to a place we usually refer to as the doggie resort, where they have special play times and take wonderful care of them, but I still feel bad. These dogs are used to sleeping on recliners or couches when we are home, how can they deal with being on the ground? But you know what? They do just fine everytime. Chewie always makes new friends and Booker bosses all the other dogs around, so they are both happy. (Though Booker acts like we are torturing him when he has to go, which makes us feel bad, and Chewie acts like he doesn't care that we are leaving him, which makes us possibly feel worse.)

Oh I hate taking the dogs to be boarded and will go to extreme measures to ensure they don't have to be. Including traveling with them. Fun.

Have a complete and total blast and take lots of pictures!

But they'll be okay and you might be able to forget while you're at the Richard petty Driving School!!!

I've had to leave my pug for a few days. But I left him with Biddie so I KNEW he'd be well loved! Just thnk how happy they'll be to see you again!

I don't think that I could leave my Ruby for more than a day or two. I couldn't. My kids, no problem, but my pup?
I dunno.....

We took one of the three dogs camping with us and he really seemed to enjoy the break from the other two.

We've been really lucky to have family or friends look after our critters while we're gone. What does dog boarding go for these days?
