I said I wasn't going to do it this season. I had no intention of watching Dancing with the Stars... BUT... Carl wanted to watch it. I swear it was all his idea! I was ready to settle in to watch Dirty Jobs. He talked me out of it. He wants to see Heather Mills fall on her ass... me, too.
So... now I have to do my commentary. That means sitting here typing in each performance as it happens. DwtS on Mondays and American Idol on Tuesdays... I REALLY need a life!
For those of you that don't want to read this... please come back tomorrow. I promise I'll type other things as well...
Leila Ali is soooo lucky... she gets to dance with Maksim (Max). Yeah. He's back and just as good lookin' as ever.
OK... here we go.
Ian Ziering: If you don't know him, he was Steve on Beverly Hills 90210. He's dancing with Emmitt's coach from last season (2-time champ). Nice smile and nice body, but he needs to shave. He did a really good job. He was a little stiff, but will be major competition when he gets more comfortable. I'm surprised... happily surprised! He's no Joey or Mario from last season, but hey... not bad.
Paulina Porizkova: Supermodel - Bleh. She looked scared to death and it showed in her dance. It felt too safe. No pizzazz or feeling at all.
Billy Ray Cyrus: I have loved him since his Achy Breaky Heart days. I can't wait to see how he does; he is dancing with Mario's coach. He is so funny! He was either counting his steps or singing the song he was dancing to... it is called "I Want My Mullett Back"! He isn't going to win this competition at all, but it was fun to watch. He barely has any rythem... he needs to work a little harder. They called it more of a hoe-down than a cha cha cha.
Leeza Gibbons: She looks beautiful. She looks a little stiff, but looks like she is having a good time. I don't know if she can ooooze sex appeal like they want, but she definatley looks like a mom trying to dance on tv for the fist time... oooops! She IS!!!!!!! I think she will improve as the weeks go by.
Joey FatOne: He looks like his last name implies... just sayin'...I hope the competition helps him out a little bit in that area. So far he has the best rythem and dance moves. A lot of energy and pizzazz. He keeps doing a lip pucker kind of thing that is irritating. I hope that goes away. Other than that, it was the best performance so far.
Leila Ali: She is beautiful, but she has a voice like a man! Max has to turn her into a "girly girl" (as Bug would say). Baby's got a jiggly booty! She looks very graceful, though. She could be a major threat. I enjoyed that performance. Max looked hot, too.
John Ratzenberger: He was a replacement dancer, so he only had two weeks to prepare for the first dance. What a doll! He may not have the best moves or form, but he did a great job with those obstacles. Carl said he looks like an old man that thinks he's a stud. I thought he looked awesome! He was better than Jerry from last season.
The just premiered the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It looks completely amazing. Anyone want to come to Atlanta on May 25 and see it with me?!
Shandi Finnessey: (Miss USA 2004) She is adorable! A little stiff, but she did a good job. Her partner looks like a ventriloquist dummy... kind of creepy. I don't think she understood a word of the first judge. I agree with the last judge that she needs for expression. It was a little bland... hopefully she'll do better next week. Carl would like that...
Clyde Drexler: One of the athletes. He has some big shoes to fill... he is NO Emmitt Smith for sure. He looks a little clunky, and looks older that John R. when he's dancing! The judges keep calling him charming... OK... but this isn't a charm competition. It is a dance competition! I don't think I could watch him for the rest of the season... My prediction? He won't win.
Heather Mills: I know it was ugly to say we want her to fall on her butt... I should be ashamed. But I'm not. She's a money grubbing idgit that is trying to take Paul McCartney for all he's worth. I can remember her saying before they got married "I love Paul! If anything were to happen to us I would NEVER try to take his money"... pppfffffttttt. I would love for her to be a role model for the handicapped people... they CAN do anything they set their minds to do, but why does she have to do this now? Couldn't she wait until the dust settles from her divorce?
Anyway... her dance....
She was very hesitant on many of her moves, but I have to admit she did a pretty good job. Her dress was very pretty. She looked nervous and worried. I don't know how she'll do on the fastier, sexier type of dances, but tonight was nice.
Apollo Anton Ohno: (Speed skater) His partner looks like the oldest sister from That 70's Show... hmmmm.... anyway. That was a great performance! He has grace and a good sense of style. I think they did a fabulous job. He has a lot of potential to go very far in this competition. Once they have the opportunity to practice they will blow the other folks out of the water.
That's it for tonight. They have to dance again next Monday. The two scores will be averaged together and put with phone votes. One couple will leave next Tuesday.
Check back for updates (if you can stomach it!)

Wow - this AND our AI blog???? I admire your stamina! :) I saw the first few minutes tonight - Ian Ziering sure seems like a nice guy. I remember reading that he was the nicest and most popular member of the 90210 cast - unlike the character he played.
No stamina -- just crazy. I wasn't going to post anything... then the show started. I was sitting on the couch with my leg bouncing up and down. I kept thinking to myself "You don't have to do it! Yes, you do!" I finally gave in.
Don't know how long I can keep it up though.
I just can't get into these kinds of shows. I do check them out every now and again, but Dirty Jobs? I LOVE Mike Rowe.
Billy Ray sang his mullet song? He sang that on Hanna Montanna. Why does his hair always look greasey? Always. He looks like a needs a good bath.
I would love to see Heather Mills fall on her face, although isn't that pretty much what happened when Sir Paul dumped her? Still, it would be entertaining.
Ian Ziering does seem like a sweet heart. The last I saw him, he was in the Domino Harvey movie. He still loooks good.
Leeza Gibbons is so cute. Can you believe that she is nearly 50?
I'll have to keep reading your posts to stay caught up.
I had this on while I was doing other stuff, so kinda watched bits and pieces. But I DID see the trailer for Pirates! Ooh la la!!! If I was a bit closer, I'd be there to go with you. :) I can hardly wait!!
I wasn't planning to watch this season because I didn't really know the people who were on it but I am glad I did.
All last week up until I left to go out of town, we were making fun of Heather. I kept chair dancing (like the Russion dancers that kick out their feet) and pretending to lose a limb. But what was really funny was doing the slow motion version of her losing a limb and saying "NNNNNOOOOO" while I was trying to catch he limb (also in slow motion). I was even asked to do it again on Monday before the show. Did you like her bag of limbs (I mean shoes with limbs in them)?
Apollo-love him. He is so cute. I thought they did great and hope that they can practice a little more. He can definitely move.
Ian was cute and I thought pretty good. I think he does need to lose the beard though. He looks scruffy.
Joey was good. I think he will do well. They definitely had to learn some moves in NSYNC.
Leeza-didn't like it.
Billy Ray - it' a good thing he is cute. He looks like an old Keith Urban.
The basketball player did not woo me.
_ Ali (can't remember her name) I thought did a good job and may have a really good chance.
John reminds me of Jerry.
The others didn't do anything for me. Can't wait until next week since Heroes isn't on.
