Flava of love

J-man was in his first play last night and he did very well. The play was all about black history and J-man was cast at Benjamin Banneker. Mr. Banneker was an inventor and among his many accomplisments he perfected the clock.

J-man had dress rehearsal on Monday night. I waited quite a while to pick him up, and finally decided to go in the school to get him -- or watch what they were rehearsing. As I walked in, I saw all the kids running down the hall holding their costumes above their heads. They were done with rehearsal and were taking them back to the room.

We were leaving the school and one of the kids yelled out "Yo... see ya later Flava Flav!" J-man started laughing and I asked him what was that all about...

Wanna see?

This was his costume. Mr. Banneker was an inventor... he perfected the clock... cute, huh? I have my very own celebrity! Flava Jay!

He walked out there and said his lines as clear and loud as any professional. I wanted to jump up and yell, “YES”. But I wouldn’t embarrass him like that. I didn’t want to ruin his moment by being a nerdy grandpa. He ad’ man, tho.

So where do you get a clock like that? Did it already have the chain on it so you could dress like Flave?

I hate to admit it but I have been known to watch Flava of Love.

Glad he had fun and did a great job. I think I would have freaked if I had to do a play when I was a kid.
