We talk to our kids about everything. Nothing is off limits. If they ask personal questions, we answer them to the best of our ability and to what we think is age appropriate.
The other night I was talking to my mom. She wanted to speak to the kids so they got on the phone one at a time. After talking with J-man, she and I chatted some more.
Mom: J-man's voice is changing. It is getting so deep!
Me: You think so? I talk to him every day and I can't tell.
Mom: Oh yeah. He is growing up so fast!
Me: I know! I think he is starting to go through puberty... and he will not hesitate to drop his drawers to show you the 4 hairs that have sprouted up around his "winkie" (as he calls it for some reason).
At this mom started laughing so hard. It is true. Because we are so open with the kids, they don't have ANY shame. J-man will sit on the toilet (lid down) while Bug is in the tub and they just talk and talk... about what, I have no idea. I don't want them to be ashamed of their bodies. I want them to talk to us about their issues, ideas and thoughts.
Anyway --
I relayed the coversation with my mom to Carl. J-man overheard it and thought it was great that we were talking about him and how much he is growing up. We, of course, started teasing him.
Me: So, dude. Should I just start calling you Harry?
J: No.... Sasquatch will do.
Nope. No ego there.
oops.

Sasquatch! I love that. The J-man definitely has some Coffey genes.
Oh! This is fantastic! What a riot.
We were walking up a trail in the woods this weekend and J-Man slipped while stepping over an exposed tree trunk and fell on his crotch. He gave a grown and grabbed himself and just leaned into me. Bug looked up at MeMaw (Sweet Tea) and said, “I don’t have to worry about that.”
its great to hear that you are so open with you kids, its the best way to be, my son is now 20 and we can still talk about anything and everything, some parents dont no how damaging it can be keeping things hush hush
"No.... Sasquatch will do"
What a sense of humor too.
Kids are funny. Yours especially. That's hilarious.
Lord, I wouldn't have shown anyone then, much less now.
He's funny and great. Your children must be a joy.
