Drama

We had a tiny bit of drama last night.

Every Tuesday and Thursday J-man goes to after school tutoring sessions. He is there until 5 p.m. when Carl comes to pick him up. SOOOO... As I'm driving home I get a call from Carl.

C: Do you know where J-man is?

M: Ummm... in after school?

C: Nope. He's not there. I talked to his teacher and he hasn't seen him this afternoon. I just drove back home to see if he took the bus and he's not there either. Didn't he mention something about the "drama club" having practice?

You see - much to Carl's chagrin - J-man has joined the Drama Club at school. J-man wants to be an actor; it is his dream. I encourage it because he would be SO good at it. He is smart, funny, and can imitate just about anyone.

SO....

We hang up the phone so Carl can head back to the school. Seconds later the phone rings. It is J-man.

M: Dude, where are you? I'm freakin' out here...

J: I'm at school! I had drama club practice... I'm in my VERY FIRST play!

Yes. He has been cast for his first play. He is going to play Benjamin Bannaker... for black history month. I couldn't be more proud of the dude! He performs on February 27 and the local college. I can't WAIT!

Jessie went missing once, I think it was the last day of grade 4, for a couple of hours. My god, I almost lost my mind! Good for J Man joining the drama club. Maybe someday he'll ba a famous actor! He certainly has the looks for it.

Congrats! Tell him that we Drama Geeks out there want him to "Break a leg!"

This could be a good thing for Jarrett. If he continues to keep his grades up, maybe you could look into some drama camps this summer. We have them here in the hinterlands, so I know a big burg like the ATL is bound to have them! And, if he starts to let the schoolwork slide, he can miss out on club events or auditions for the NEXT show.

Kids who have extracurricular activites lined up do better in school, for the most part, and most schools only allow participation if you keep your grades at a certain level.

Good for him! You'll have to take pics of the first performance, and post them for us!

Might be a good idea to start building a display case for all the Oscars. Cool!
