Ready... set... GO

It starts tomorrow folks.

At 6 a.m. I will be checking in and registering at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast. At 7:30 a.m. I take my first step on a 30-mile adventure. I will begin walking the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer - an event I have been anticipating for the past 6 months.

I am walking in memory of my maternal grandmother who passed away from breast cancer. She died before anyone understood this disease or how to treat it... the women of today are the "lucky ones" because of activities like this walk.

I am walking in honor of my mother and another friend who are both breast cancer survivors. These two ladies are the bravest women I know and I am honored to be doing this for them.

I am walking for my daughter. I am hoping the money raised for this walk - and many of the other cancer walks - will help create a cure so that she will NEVER have to go through the terror and uncertainty of breast cancer. I am hoping Jordan’s future is cancer free.

I am walking for myself. This is a challenge for me and one that I accept with pride. Even if I don't make it the entire 30 miles I will be proud of myself for getting off the couch and DOING something.

The walk consists of 20 miles on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. The weather is supposed to be beautiful – mid to high 80’s and no humidity; perfect for walking. I am excited, nervous, and oh so ready to go…

Cross your fingers, wish me luck, and think about me - even if it is just for one second - over the weekend. I'll let you know how it goes!

I am proud of you, too. I don’t believe I could walk that distance if it was down hill all the way. So wear good shoes and give it your best Marni attempt. I’m betting you make it all the way, one step at a time.

And in the spirit of women’s health and safety, I will give as many breast exams as needed to make this world a safer and healthier place.(I also give pap smears, too.)

Just give me a call at 1-800-huba huba.

Good for you! I did the 3-day last year and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Take care of your feet!

Wow! Very cool! :)

My friend & I have been talking about doing that for the last few years, but we haven't ever walked more than 10 miles (and that was killer).

Thanks Marni! My 2 sisters and 1 sister-in-law were all diagnosed last year but so far so good.
