Today is the last day of summer for the kiddos. I have taken today off to spend time with them and enjoy their last day of freedom. So what are we doing? Going to the zoo...
We are going to go out in 95 degree weather to look at animals. I think we have seriously lost. our. minds. We are taking precautions - light clothes, water, sunscreen - but how can we prepare for the heat and humidity? We can't; I only hope we can find some air conditioning somewhere.
The kids will enjoy this, though. The heat doesn't really bother them. Carl and I, on the other hand, may be wringing each other's necks before it is over. If you read about a mom and dad killing each other in the panda exhibit at the Atlanta Zoo...

I'd like to come in here and say something reassuring, but basically, I think you are nuts.
On hot, humid days, all I can do is lie on the floor.
I wish I could do that, too. Yes, we are NUTS!
The important thing is you are doing things together - as a family. These times fly by so fast. Just think of the stories the kids will be able to tell their kids about the time they watch mama and papa kill each other at the zoo - their bodies lieing in a pool of sweat. They are so lucky. I got to watch cobwebs form on my mom and dad. We NEVER did anything as a family. So a little heat and humidity, which you won't remember, is a fair price to pay to get to see the kiddies experience life. Have a wonderful time and have Jay-man call me and let me know how it was.
Well -- there are worse places you could go. Maybe when you're done with the zoo, you could go to Centennial Park, and throw yourselves in the reflecting pools!
The zoo is great, no matter the weather. Like Coffeypot said, at least you're together as a family.
Post pix! And isn't it weird to start school on a Friday?
